“We walked out of the Homestead building seminar thinking no way, we were way past being that involved with building,” says Glenda. “But after we talked to our local bank, we realized that Homestead Homes sounded way better. The bank wanted us to pay interest monthly, while Homestead gave us six months interest free. Plus, Homestead gave us more control and allowed us to set up our own budget.”
“We only put about $300 down and the day we moved in we had about $50,000 in equity. We’ve made several improvements since then and estimate our equity to be around $100,000 now,” says Alan.
“The people from Homestead were great. We could always reach them by phone or email. There were several times that we needed them immediately and they were there for us,” says Glenda.
“The land belonged to my dad, so that makes it extra special. He divided it up and gave a section to us. We would walk around the land and dream about building our home here,” says Glenda. “Alan is a big deer hunter, so it’s a thrill to sit in our new home and look out these big beautiful windows and watch the deer pass by outside.” |
